The wines from No. 1 Family Estate in Marlborough, New Zealand, follow the traditions set over 12 generations by a family of winemakers in Champagne, France.
The New Zealand vineyard was set up in July 1997 by champagne maker Daniel Le Brun, his wife Adele and their children Virginie and Remy. Their first wine, Cuvee No.1, was released in 1999.
No. 1 Family Estate is dedicated to three methodes traditionelle: Cuvée No. 1, a non-vintage blanc de blancs (100% chardonnay), Cuvée Number Eight, a non-vintage blend of pinot noir and chardonnay, and Cuvée Virginie, a vintage blend available in only the finest years. All are produced from top- quality, hand-harvested grapes processed through state-of-the-art equipment imported from Champagne.
Production will remain focused on limited edition wines, using only top-quality grapes and paying meticulous attention to detail.

Sample Tasting Notes: |
|
No1 Cuvée |
This release from the family's new is 100% chardonnay (blanc de blancs), a style for which our winemaker has consistently been awarded gold medals and trophies during his career. A perfect balance between fruit and yeast, the wine was held on lees for two years allowing full autolysis displaying a tiny consistent bead, and firm mousse resulting in a typical, complex, champagne-like character. |

No 8 Cuvée |
An easy-drinking aperitif style, this wine was blended from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is fresh and inviting with sophisticated champagne-like characters, intense flavours, and a long finish. |
|
Cuvée Virginie |
Cuvée Virginie 1997, released in 2001 is named after Daniel and Adele's daughter. A champagne-like aroma introduces a powerful, elegant wine with an ethereal texture and lingering finish. Fine apple and citrus flavours are interwoven with pungent yeast autolysis characters. |
